The fastest-charging EV is the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 according to Edmunds. Known for in-depth car reviews, Edmunds serves as an informative site for consumers. The latest publication details how many miles per charging hour EVs in the American market manage. Edmunds considered factors like weight and efficiency when calculating its formula. The 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 was rated number one in terms of charge time. Reputable in the EV world, the electric sedan offers impressive capability and range. Alongside the Ioniq 6 was the Ioniq 5. Having both EVs placed within the top 10 is a strong indicator of Hyundai’s success in the EV market. As such, we’ll take a look at Edmunds’ formula and see just how fast the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 can charge.

2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 Is Fastest-Charging EV

The fastest-charging EV in the American market is the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6. The online resource Edmunds recently published a ranking of EVs based on how fast they charge. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 placed first boasting an impressive charging time of 868 miles per hour. To calculate this figure, Edmunds divided the EV’s average charging power in kilowatts by a consumption figure. They then took that result and multiplied it by 100. As it stands, consumers looking for a long-range EV with a quick charge have to look no further than the Hyundai Ioniq 6.

In addition to a fast charge time, the 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6 also boasts 320 horsepower. The electric sedan sees this level of performance when equipped with a dual-motor. It should be noted that the Ioniq 6’s impressive charge time was achieved using a single-motor. The single-motor Ioniq 6 only manages 149 horsepower, but factors like weight affect how fast an EV can charge. The difference between the dual-motor and single-motor Ioniq 6 was almost negligible however as it still ranked 3rd with 764 miles per hour.

Edmunds’ latest ranking gives consumers important insight into the world of EVs. While many are eager to transition to EVs, a main concern is battery range and charge time. The good news is that range is steadily increasing as automakers incorporate new technology in their EVs. Charge time is also decreasing as ultra-fast chargers become more readily available. With time, EVs will become the norm especially with more charging stations popping up throughout the United States. Sitting at the top is Hyundai with its 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 6. The electric sedan starts at an MSRP of $42,450 (plus destination fee) and offers impressive capability along with an exceptionally fast charge time.
